Shihan John Dalmedo commenced his Goju Training in Sydney under the instruction of Shihan Paul Starling (Sydney Goju Kan) on 3rd February 1973                       

Shihan Dalmedo remained with Shihan Starling until 1980 and then commenced training with Master Kazuo Saito (originally Goju Ryu Seiwakai Japan).

In 1989 Shihan Dalmedo moved to Queensland and opened a branch of Goju Ryu Seiwakai in Cleveland. During this time Master Saito developed strong ties with the Japanese Cultural and Martial Arts Academy (Japan) and changed the school name to "Shinbukan" to reflect Master Saito's family heritage and Ninjutsu training. Shihan Dalmedo still remains a close friend and Senior student of Master Saito and trains with Master Saito on a regular basis.

Shihan Dalmedo has recently joined the Goju Ryu Karate Do Seiwakai School Directed by Shihan Glenn Stephenson (6th Dan) in Australia and is regarded as a Deputy Director / Senior instructor. Shihan Dalmedo is also the AMAC Queensland State Technical Commissioner and is accredited as a National Referee.

To date, Shihan Dalmedo has 39 years Goju Karate experience and has obtained the grade of 6th Dan with Master Saito and 5th Dan with Goju Ryu Seiwakai Australia, Shihan Dalmedo has been trained in Weapons and various other styles of Martial Arts.

Professional Qualifications:

Shihan Dalmedo has many professional qualifications including :

Bachelor of Arts in Behavioural Science;

Diploma in Applied Science (Welfare);

Diploma in Diversional Therapy;

Diploma in Human and Community Services;

Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training

Certificate IV in Correctional Practices;

Certificate III in Education;

Senior First Aid Certificate.

Work History:

Shihan Dalmedo has worked in many areas of industry and in the Human Service (Welfare) field.

These areas have included Mechanics, Fitting and Machining; In the Human Service field these  areas have included Youth Work (BoysTown); Disability fields, Special Housing Association of Redlands (SHARE) - management committees; Department of Corrective Service (Community Corrections); Department of Disability Services; CentaCare, Department of Child Safety and Department of Education.
